Academy of National Sciences) is the highest self-governing scientific institution of the Republic of Tajikistan and, in its activities, ensures the conduct, development, and coordination of fundamental and applied research in the country, the study of key issues of economic, social, and cultural development, the enhancement of the effective use of scientific achievements, the training of highly qualified scientific personnel, as well as the integration of science and production.
2. The Academy of National Sciences carries out its activities on the basis of the Constitution of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan “On the Academy of National Sciences of Tajikistan,” other normative legal acts of the Republic of Tajikistan, international legal acts recognized by Tajikistan, and the Charter of the Academy of National Sciences (hereinafter – the Charter).
3. The Academy of National Sciences is subordinate to the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.
4. The Academy of National Sciences unites full members (academicians) and corresponding members elected by the General Assembly of the Academy of National Sciences, scientific institutions, researchers, and other specialists working within the institutions of the Academy of National Sciences.
5. The structure of the Academy of National Sciences includes the Presidium, departments, administrations, research institutions, representative offices, scientific centers, regional scientific centers, branches, agencies, services, independent scientific departments, and institutes established in accordance with the legislation. Their main task is to develop research within regional scientific and scientific-technical programs and to coordinate cooperation between academic institutions and sectoral research institutions, as well as regional higher professional education institutions. Scientific societies, councils of scientists, scientific and scientific-technical councils, dissertation councils, committees, commissions, and funds may be established within the Academy of National Sciences in accordance with the established legal procedure.
6. The Academy of National Sciences has the right to independently manage its activities, enjoys financial autonomy, and carries out the appointment and dismissal of employees at all levels, including within the Presidium and its structural subdivisions, in accordance with the established procedure.
7. The highest governing body of the Academy of National Sciences is the General Assembly of the Academy of National Sciences. The Presidium of the Academy of National Sciences is the permanently operating collegial governing body, headed by the President of the Academy of National Sciences.
8. The Academy of National Sciences is a legal entity. The Presidium, research institutes, branches, regional scientific centers, and other institutions of the Academy of National Sciences have bank accounts and official seals bearing the State Emblem of the Republic of Tajikistan and the name of the respective organization.
