About the Ministry The Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan, in accordance with Decree No. 12 of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan dated November 19, 2013, was formed on the basis of delegating tasks, policies and issues related to the energy sector to its competence, on the basis of separation from the Ministry of Energy and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan and adding tasks, policies and issues related to it with water from the former Ministry of Land Reclamation and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan. The Ministry is one of the key ministries of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan related to the management and promotion of water and energy issues, which are considered strategically important resources. The assignment to the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources Policy implementation, management of the implementation of the initiative related to this area, and other tasks related to the line of activity, in accordance with the requirements of the Nexus Agreement for the Republic of Tajikistan, where 98% of electricity is produced from water resources, is timely, important and useful. The Ministry carries out its activities on the development of water and energy policy, the development of strategies, programs, plans for the development of the fuel and energy complex and water resources, management, regulation, design, capacity development, state control over the rational use and protection of water resources together with other state bodies, local executive bodies of state power and an international public organization. In addition, the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan carries out management and control in the field of energy and safety of hydraulic structures through its structural units, such as the State Control Service in the Field of Energy and the State Control Service in the field of Safety of Hydraulic Structures. In addition, the Ministry is responsible for coordinating the activities of ministries and departments related to the management, use and protection of water resources. Most importantly, the Ministry is an authoritative and leading body in the national dialogue on water policy issues in the direction of integrated use of water resources.
