The State Scientific Institution “Institute of Plant Protection of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Tajikistan” (hereinafter referred to as the Institute) was established by Resolution No. 500 of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan dated September 27, 2025.
Main Goals and Objectives of the Institute:
• developing and submitting state programs for plant protection;
• identifying and assessing organisms that pose a particular threat to agricultural crops;
• developing and implementing modern scientific and technical methods of plant protection;
• improving a scientifically based system for combating diseases and pests;
• developing and submitting standards for the storage, transportation, and use of pesticides;
• conducting production trials and participating in the state registration of pesticides;
• introducing scientific achievements into agricultural production;
• providing methodological and advisory assistance on phytosanitary measures;
• developing cooperation with scientific and educational institutions and international organizations;
• training scientific personnel through postgraduate study, doctoral programs, and professional development courses;
• publishing research results and scientific and methodological materials.
The Institute is responsible for conducting scientific research, developing practical recommendations for agricultural production, and implementing modern scientific and technical achievements in the field of plant protection. In accordance with its Charter, the Institute may establish additional scientific and production units and provide the necessary working conditions for the effective performance of its employees.
The institutional structure comprises 4 scientific departments, 1 laboratory, and support units, including:
Department for the Control of Insect Pests of Agricultural Crops;
Department for the Control of Insect Pests of Orchards, Vineyards, and Vegetables;
Phytopathology Department;
Biological Control Laboratory;
Accounting, specialists, and technical staff.
The above-mentioned departments and laboratory are directly engaged in scientific research and production activities, while the accounting unit and technical staff ensure the institution’s organized administrative, financial, technical, and support operations.
Staffing Information of the Institution as of March 3, 2026
As of March 3, 2026, the institution has a total of 25 employees, including 16 permanent employees and 9 contract employees. All of the above-mentioned employees are directly involved in scientific and production activities.
Among the scientific staff:
• 1 — Leading Researcher (L.R.);
• 5 — Senior Researchers (S.R.);
• 3 — Researchers (R.);
• 2 — Junior Researchers (J.R.).
Among the scientific staff, 2 employees hold a Doctor of Science degree and 4 employees hold a Candidate of Science degree.
The institution’s staff has sufficient scientific and professional experience in the relevant field, providing the necessary capacity to carry out research and production activities.
