of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2023–2028**
1. The State Environmental Program of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2023–2028 (hereinafter referred to as the Program) defines the main directions of sustainable development of society aimed at organizing targeted activities to ensure a high-quality environment, sustainable environmental management, and environmental security.
2. The Program has been developed on the basis of the National Development Strategy of the Republic of Tajikistan for the period up to 2030.
3. The Program provides for the implementation of measures on environmental protection, rational and restorative use of natural resources, environmental improvement, and ensuring environmental security in the long term.
4. The implementation of the Program is aimed at achieving the strategic objectives of the country to enhance the socio-economic level through the involvement of new and large-scale natural resources (land, water, flora, forests, subsoil resources) into economic circulation, as well as through the development of a “green” economy.
5. The implementation of the measures envisaged by the Program will make it possible to carry out specific actions in the republic aimed at the rational use of natural resources and improvement of environmental conditions, as unresolved environmental issues still persist in society.
6. The Program ensures sustainable development of the country in economic and environmental terms and the maintenance of balance between nature and society, which depends on environmental factors, including the shortage of irrigated land, environmental pollution, water resource availability, distribution and preservation of pasture and forest productivity, atmospheric air quality, rational use of natural resources, adaptation to climate change, improvement of public health, and conservation of biological diversity, particularly rare and endangered species of flora and fauna.
