The Committee for the Development of Local Self-Government under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan (hereinafter referred to as the Committee) is a central executive body of state power that implements state policy in the management of local territorial development, coordinates issues of socio-economic development of local territories, defines the duties and powers between central and local government bodies, as well as local self-government bodies of cities and rural settlements. Furthermore, the Committee coordinates activities related to the development and implementation of comprehensive socio-economic development projects for border and administrative units.
The Committee is accountable to the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.
In its activities, the Committee is guided by the Constitution (Fundamental Law) of the Republic of Tajikistan, the laws of the Republic of Tajikistan, other regulatory legal acts of the Republic of Tajikistan, international legal documents recognized by the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as this Regulation.
