Institute of Crop Science of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Tajikistan

For the first time in the republic, in 1932, the State Breeding and Seed Production Station of Tajikistan was established. In 1956, based on this institution, the Scientific Research Institute of Crop Production under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Tajik SSR was organized. In 1987, the institution was transformed into the Scientific-Production Association “Ziroatkor”, which operated until 2008.

According to the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan dated May 2, 2008, No. 215, the institution was included in the list of scientific-research institutes of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Tajikistan and received the name Institute of Crop Production. In accordance with the Government Decrees dated July 8, 2017, No. 342, and August 31, 2020, No. 487, the name of the institution was finalized and officially confirmed.

Over the years, several specialized institutes were established on the basis of this institution, which now operate independently:

• 1971 – Institute of Animal Husbandry

• 1978 – Institute of Horticulture and Vegetable Growing

• 1985 – Institute of Agricultural Economics

• 2007 – National Center for Genetic Resources
