History of the Establishment and Renaming of Mir Sayid Ali Hamadoni District
Establishment of the District:
The district was established on September 15, 1950, by Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Tajik SSR as part of Kulyab Region under the name “Chubek.”
Renaming of the District:
As a symbol of friendship and brotherhood, and in honor of a group of specialists and workers from the city of Moscow, Russian Federation, who participated in the construction of roads, irrigation networks, and the development of the district’s lands, the district was renamed “Moscow” at the request of local residents by Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Tajik SSR on December 13, 1952.
By Resolution No. 502 of the Majlisi Milli of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan dated February 12, 2004, the name of Moscow District was changed to Mir Sayid Ali Hamadoni District. The proposal and request of the district’s residents were based on the desire to honor the memory of the renowned scholar and thinker of the East, Mir Sayid Ali Hamadoni, who first came to the village of Chubek in the district, lived there for some time, and engaged in scholarly and creative activities.
The total area of the district is 50 km². The district borders the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to the south (along 35 km), Farkhor District to the west (9 km), Shamsiddin Shohin District to the southeast (150 km), and Vose District to the northeast (42 km).
Information on the Activities of the Town and Rural Jamoats of Mir Sayid Ali Hamadoni District
According to the administrative-territorial division, the district consists of one town jamoat and seven rural jamoats.
As self-government bodies, the jamoats facilitate the exercise of citizens’ right to participate in the management of public and state affairs. They also assist the district’s executive body of state authority in implementing the requirements of the Constitution of the Republic of Tajikistan, resolutions of the Majlisi Milli and Majlisi Namoyandagon, as well as acts of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan and decisions of assemblies of people’s deputies.
In accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Tajikistan, the jamoats address matters within their competence, including the regulation of land relations, which constitute one of the important aspects of citizens’ livelihoods.
The jamoats explain the state’s domestic and foreign policy to the population and mobilize citizens to fulfill their responsibilities in various areas of public life, as well as in social, economic, and productive development. At the same time, they protect the interests of citizens before the relevant authorities and take practical measures to improve the living standards of the population.
Within the scope of their authority, the jamoats also consider issues related to education, healthcare, and culture, assisting citizens in resolving important matters.
